Laila Paleker

Job description: Property researcher/analyst

Age: 24

Qualifications: BSc (Property Studies) (UCT), BSc Hons (Property Studies) (UCT), Dip Project Management (UCT)

E-mail Address:

What I do every day: I am a property researcher and editor of the Rode’s Sales publication. My core responsibility is to research and report on non-residential property sales each month before they are registered at the Deeds Office. I am required to estimate capitalization rates and calculate sales prices per square metre on each sale I receive.

About me: I have a friendly and happy outlook on life. I am a meticulous person and I take pride in everything I do whether it is working at Rode House or planning a family function. I thoroughly enjoy belly-dancing, nature and an occasional hike with my friends, emphasis on the word ‘occasional’. Believe it or not but shopping at a sale is an art which I am proud to say I have mastered, so the only time you will ever need to approach me with caution is if you bump into me at such a sale. I have an addiction to arbitrary things like sweets, day-dreaming, dental floss, waterless hand cleanser, biltong and the daily news. I look forward to spending time with my family and close friends, who really mean the world to me. If there would be one thing I cannot stand, it would have to be people who are ill mannered, impatient, grumpy, and never smile. My secret to happiness is not forgetting the child within, having a dose of laughter at least once a day and keep smiling no matter what!
